OLYMPIAD NEWS

The Mathematics Olympiad, named after Mr. Maam Unenbileg, the Mongolian People's Honourable Teacher, is held annually to promote the development of Mathematics. It was successfully organized on October 19 and 20, 2024, at the Shine Ue School and awarded its winners.

A total of 1,207 students in grades 6-12 from 114 schools and 102 teachers in the teacher category participated in this year's Olympiad. The school awarded 11 gold, 2 silver and 35 bronze medals.

A total of nine students were awarded the 'Shining Student' title. This included eight students who solved two complex problems from public and province schools, as well as one student from the 3rd class who won a silver medal in the 6th-grade category. In addition, the 'Olympiad Leading Community' title was awarded to the 5th school in Mandal Sum, Selenge Province, for preparing the most significant number of students from the local community.

Dr. and Associate Professor of Mongolian National University, Batzorig U. led the Olympiad commission and prepared challenging and engaging problems for the Olympiad. The Olympiad is growing every year, with an increasing number of participants from all over the country and provinces. This year, teams from 10 provinces - Uvs, Khuvsgul, Khentii, Orkhon, Darkhan, Selenge, Tuv, Umnugobi, Uvurkhangai, and Bulgan - took part in the event.

Some key features of this Olympiad are as follows:

No fees or charges were collected from Olympiad participants.

Each participating teacher and student received a gift.

The school was responsible for the teachers' and students' accommodation at Continental Hotel, Seoul Sauna and Hotel.

The prize fund amounted to 30,000,000 MNT.

The parents, guardians, and teachers of the students who took part in the Olympiad expressed their satisfaction with the organization of the event. Their positive feedback has motivated us to improve our efforts for next year's Olympiad.
